11/7/2018 0 Comments Top Tips When Moving a HomeMoving a home is exciting but it is also very stressful, while the prospect of starting a new life in a new area is pleasing, at the same time there will be sadness at the thought of leaving everything behind especially if you have lived there for many years. However there are many things you can do to make life a little easier at this time and here are some top tips. Around 5 weeks before the removal date arrives call a Removalists Adelaide company to ensure that all is well. This is where choosing a reliable company comes into its own and you should book one well in advance. All being well they will be able to reassure you that they will be there on the date and the time you booked them for. At this time you should also check your own car over to make sure that all is well with it. You do not want any breakdowns if you are following the removal van to your new home on the day especially if you are traveling some distance. Around 4 weeks before your removal date ensure that you have all the packing materials needed. You will need at least strong sturdy boxes of different sizes, strong tape, bubble wrap etc, that is unless you have hired a company to take care of the packing for you. It is around this time that thought should be given to registering with new Dentists and Doctors in the area you are moving to. If you have a broadband service for internet then you also need to have the service changed to the new address and remember to stop any deliveries such as magazines and newspapers. You also need to inform the gas and electric board of the move along with banks and building societies. Around 2 weeks before the removal date you need to think about what you are going to do with young children and pets on the moving day. If at all possible make arrangements for a family member to take care of young children in their home and once you have made the trip they can then join you in your new home preferably the day after the move. At this time you want to think about emptying the freezer to ensure that it will be ready for the move and begin packing any items that you do not need on a regular basis. Around 1 week before the day of the removal you will pack all items safely and securely and ensure that all boxes are clearly labeled with the rooms they will go in at the new home. This makes life easier when it comes to unpacking. At this stage all you should leave out are the essential items that are needed. This is also the time when the family should take a look at all the things in the area they want to see for the last time. This could be parks, playgrounds, restaurants etc.
The night before the move, take children and pets to family members and get an early night and hopefully you will be refreshed and ready for the big day. You need to be ready for when the removal team arrive and after everything has been loaded into the van you can then take one last look around to check nothing has been forgotten and then move on to your new life.
